Punta Gorda, Florida

June 26, 2007

Alliance Design Group, P. A., with offices in Punta Gorda and Fort Myers, Florida, has completed design work on North Port’s first “green” building. Scheduled for completion in the summer of 2008, the 8,000 square foot building will house North Port’s Department of Social Services, bringing all nine social service agencies under one roof. The building was designed with the possibility of adding a second floor at a future date.

Department and city officials are hopeful they can attain LEED certification for the building before its completion. “We are very supportive of all efforts to improve the environment and conserve our natural resources. We will continue to do whatever is reasonable and within the limited budgets we have for our capital improvement projects”, states Marcello Ranalli of the City of North Port. A “green” building is one which is environmentally friendly, economically profitable and provides inhabitants with a healthy building in which to work or live by utilizing eco-friendly designs and materials in its composition. LEED (The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System, was developed by the U. S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to provide set standards for environmental construction processes. Since its inception in 1994, LEED has grown to encompass 6,000 projects in 28 countries covering 1 billion square feet of development area. Its hallmark is that it’s an open and transparent process by which the technical criteria proposed by LEED committees are publicly reviewed by the more than 8,500 membership organizations that comprise the USGBC.

Robert J. O’Brien, architect for the project at Alliance Design Group, P. A. has a vast background in designing “green” buildings, among them the Pierce Cedar Creek Institute in Hastings, Michigan and the Sherman Lake YMCA Camp in Augusta, Michigan. Punta Gorda, Florida – August 9, 2007 – Three years ago on August 13, Hurricane Charley blasted through Charlotte County leveling 92 percent of Windmill Village, a 454-home mobile home park, completely decimating its clubhouse. Three hundred and twenty of the park’s homes have been rebuilt thus far.

Charged by Windmill Village Board of Directors to design the new clubhouse, local architectural group Alliance Design Group had its work cut out for them.

The new, hurricane-resistant building will be introduced to the public at a gala Open House slated for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 13, three years to the day from Charley’s short, extremely devastating visit.

The multi-purpose room with stage and dance floor is serviced by a state-of-the-art kitchen. In addition, the building boasts a separate pool and card room. A huge covered terrace provides relaxing, panoramic views of the marina and boat ramp. The clubhouse will provide a diverse selection of amenities to Windmill Village residents.

Fort Myers, Florida

July 25, 2007

Alliance Design Group, P. A., of Fort Myers and Punta Gorda, announces the completion of the design phase of the Ft. Myers BoatClub, strategically located on a prime area of the Caloosahatchee River in South Fort Myers. Charged to produce a low-maintenance, functional and aesthetically pleasing project, ADG delivered as requested. Ft. Myers BoatClub is the largest marina project in the county.

Ft. Myers BoatClub’s mission was to provide an amenity-rich facility for their discriminating buyers, offering them a “total boating experience” on the 26-acre site. By selling wet slips, dry slips and commercial space as condominium real estate property, capital is provided to finance the redevelopment of aging facilities. As a result, an environmentally sound, state of the art facility such as the Ft. Myers BoatClub emerges.

At 164,000 square feet of construction, the Ft. Myers BoatClub is one of the largest marinas on Florida’s west coast. A unique feature of the large up-scale marina is the utilization of pavers on the nearly one mile of aluminum floating docks surrounding the facility. ADG will also be managing the interior design of the BoatClub’s brand new, 5,000 square foot Clubhouse.
